It's now official!!
I'm running the Virgin London Marathon in April 2018 so I've decided to blog my journey to the marathon as motivation and also to update the people who are supporting me from a distance! I'm no runner, I've completed a 5k and a 10k previously but a marathon is something completely different and needs serious training.
I'm running for Macmillan Cancer, a cause close to my heart. In my previous role (this changed a few months ago) I was a charity champion for Macmillan and loved planning events to raise money for them. It's an amazing charity and they do so much to support people and their families so it's an honour to be a part of the team for the marathon.
I'm starting to run, building up my runs but my full training, following a plan etc will officially start in January where hopefully by then I'll have built up some stamina and some speed. I started the Park Run on Saturday and completed this 5k in 40mins 15 secs. This actually really disappointed me but I know not only was it my first one, it was raining and there were hills that I didn't expect! I have a couple of events, 5k and 10k booked for the next couple of months so completing the Park Runs and my normal runs during the week gives me hope that the times for these will be better than previous ones.
Keep more up to date with me and my journey on social media!
